Question World of Warcraft of Guild Wars?

As the title states, which game to you like better?

*Note- only vote if you have played or seen both games.

I like GW better because it takes less time to get to the good stuff (I work about 50 hours a week). Really, though, they're not worth comparing. They're not the same type of game.

GW - Action/Strategy game, combat-focused, very little to no role-playing

WoW - Full-on MMORPG. A lot more role-playing, and also a lot more time invested into grinding levels and such.

I think GW combat is more fun, but that's pretty much all there is to GW - combat. I don't consider GW a role-playing game.

I would agree Dex, even though I have not played WoW, it seems slower(rate) than GW. And I like that Guild Wars is free online

Guild Wars. WoW is a fine game, it's just not as fun as GW.

This probably isn't the best place to ask a question like that... As you'll probably just get alot of biased opinions, given that this is Guild Wars fan forum.

I haven't had as much as expierence with World of Warcraft as i have with Guild Wars. Purely due to the fact i don't have endless hours in the day to play it... Aswell as that i feel bad paying every month, for the little amount of time i would actually get to play the game. From what i have played though it seems extremely fun and addicting, its far more indepth than Guild Wars. For starters everywhere is open, running, jumping, swimming, crafting, mounts and bumping into people all over the place. But the feeling i got was you need to give your life to WoW to feel like you are progressing... If you can only play for an hour or so a night it may become very boring and stale.

You can't really compare them to be honest as they're pretty much Two completly different games... Sure they have simularities but at the end of the day there's more different than there is in common.

But Guild Wars gets my vote just because i happen to play that more, if i had more time i'd probably pick World of Warcraft though.

Thanks for the tip. (I love smiles). If what you said is true about WoW, I would be dead. I can only play GW on the weekends because I have to play on my mom's laptob. I won't be able to devote much time to WoW.

I prefer the linear nature of GW. I like the fact that even in a short period of time I can accomplish something in GW. I like that PvP is completely seperate from PvE, no freaking contested regions.

I like that you actually have to think about what skills to take and that you have so many skills and options for builds. In WoW each class has maybe 10 or so builds that you can run, from my limited experience(not to say that you would even think of using them). Each class in GW can run...lots of different builds(and a great many that will get the job done). For me it seems that I can have a great deal more creativity in GW than WoW when deciding what I want to do.

The community is stronger in GW imo. Some may say that there are more people in WoW than GW and that in GW you go off and play by yourself whenever you leave an outpost. But it's the same way in WoW. Just about any time you aren't in a major outpost or town you only see one or two people around in the wilderness. The towns in WoW are bigger than GW, which would be nice, but also not in GW. As it is, it can be annoying loading into LA or Droks and having to run all the way across town to get to an npc or something.

Graphics.

Hey,

WOW is more good class wise, looks like they got some cool classes, but then again, Guild Wars does to..

WOW is mostly for grind and that, not for any serious PVP or PVE Like Guild Wars Offers. I been in quite a few PVP's and that and GW offers better..

Not true..theres 50 on 50 pvp in WoW.

but i would say i like GW better, as there is a lot less grinding, less time getting the things you want. i played WoW for about 50 hours and quit because it was so rediculous

I actualy play both games and atm my favorite has got to be WoW. This is due to several updates which have killed several professions in Guild Wars and the Burning Crusade. For the time beign I am taking a wait and see approach to GW, I realy would like to see the new chapter but if it is more PVP orientated then I probably will not buy it and actualy quit Guild Wars alltogether. Not saying that WoW is a better game but I need my fix somewhere and atm there is nothing in GW for a PVE to actualy do. The last couple chapters just feel like one big grind (god I hate grinding), where atm when I finish a quest in WoW it feels like I actualy accomplished something. Sorry for the long post but GW is at thei moment dissapointing.

As i said in the other thread, i went for GW purely becauser of the time factor in WoW. But if i had the time i'd play WoW because it's far more in depth and has more todo.

I've playtested the bèta of ROSEonline, and it got boring as soon as you hit level 20-30, it's constantly grinding, killing the same monsters.

Last week, I was at a LAN, and for the very first time, I played WoW, albeit on someone elses computer.
I created a Rogue Night Elf...
First quest I received: kill 4 of that critter, kill 7 of some other critter.
I killed 4 of the first kind, then 7 of the other, and in that short timespan, I had already bored myself, it just didn't look interesting, and the controls were just horrid.

I never fetched the reward for that quest, and went back to playing GW on my laptop.

Grind is just not my kind of thing.

I tried the 10 day trial of WoW and have to say I didn't like it. It looked to cartoony and the controls were cumbersome. I to am starting to get bored with GW PvE, but what are you going to do? GW is the best game out right now. Hellgate: London looks like it will be pretty sweet!

I prefer GW Graphics over WOW Cartoonish graphics and not to mention the mass amount of skill combos in GW gets you glued..

and love the fact that there is no PK in GW.... Thank God i dont have to deal with bullies
